FCC Construcción and Convensa participate in the commissioning of the first phase of the Extremadura High-Speed Corridor. An infrastructure of 150 kilometers in length between Plasencia and Badajoz, passing through Cáceres and Mérida, and which represents an investment of 1,700 million euros. The Madrid-Extremadura High-Speed Line (437 kilometres), which Adif AV is developing with an estimated investment of more than 3,700 million, forms part of the Atlantic Corridor and will be completed with two other sections: Madrid-Oropesa and Tayuela-Plasencia, the latter in action.

His Majesty the King traveled on the inaugural train, accompanied by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez; the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez; the Government delegate in Extremadura, Yolanda García; the president of the Junta de Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara; and the president of Adif and Adif AV, María Luisa Domínguez, among other authorities.

Within the actions of this first phase of the Extremadura High-Speed Corridor, FCC Construcción and its subsidiary Convensa have carried out different and relevant works, among which we highlight:

  • The Embalse de Alcántara-Garrovillas section, which includes the Almonte Viaduct, undoubtedly the line's most emblematic structure, internationally recognized with numerous awards.
  • The section of platform that runs between Arroyo de la Charca and Grimaldo and the replacement by expanding the horizontal and vertical gauge of the overpass within the municipality of Gévora together with the suppression of the Monfragüe access level crossing.
