FCC Construcción Portugal and Convensa have signed the rethinking document for the new Rubi (H) Line of the Porto Metro, between Casa da Música and Santo Ovídio. The event was chaired by António Costa, Prime Minister of Portugal, and was also attended by Tiago Braga, president of Metro do Porto, Duarte Cordeiro, minister of Environment and Climate Action, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, president of the Vila Nova City Council de Gaia, and Rui Moreira, president of the Porto City Council.

The project, with an amount of more than 379 million euros, represents the largest project of the Recovery and Resilience Plan in Portugal.

The contract obtained highlights the construction of a new bridge over the Douro River, which will be named "Ferreirinha", in homage to D. Antónia Ferreira. The new metro line with a length of 6.3 kilometers, extends between the Casa da Música (Porto) and Santo Ovídio (Vila Nova de Gaia) stations and also includes the construction of three above-ground stations: Arrábida, Candal and Rotunda ; five underground stations: Casa da Música (connection with the existing one), Campo Alegre, Devesas, Soares dos Reis and Santo Ovídio (connection with the existing one); the construction of a parking lot for 500 vehicles; the connection with the Devesas railway station, as well as the construction of several viaducts and underpasses for vehicles and people.

With this new line, Porto and Gaia are even more connected thanks to a project which will benefit more than one million people, which represents the largest investment made in the Porto Metropolitan Area since the first phase of the Metro's implementation, ago. about 20 years.
