Convensa wins the modernization contract for the Madrid-Seville high-speed line

Convensa gana el contrato de modernización de la línea de alta velocidad Madrid-Sevilla

Convensa wins the contract to modernize the Madrid-Seville high-speed line, with the installation of 47 detours, which are added to the 63 installed in the first phase and already in service. This will complete the renovation of the 110 detours, providing this line with these devices with state-of-the-art technology, suitable for maximum speeds of 350 kilometers/hour.

In this second phase, the detours will be installed in the provinces of Toledo, Ciudad Real, Córdoba and Sevilla. The detour renewal work is carried out mainly during maintenance periods, at night without commercial traffic, and represents a great technical and logistical challenge.

The track devices are large, up to 175 meters in length and weighing approximately 170 tons each, and their movement requires the use of special transport and the mobilization of a large number of technical resources (machinery and auxiliary equipment ) and human, with the intervention of a hundred professionals in each operation.

This contract is added to other actions developed within the comprehensive renovation plan for the Madrid-Seville high-speed line that will keep the country's first high-speed line at the forefront due to its reliability and quality standards. The plan covers actions in all elements of the line, from the track and infrastructure (viaducts and tunnels), to the associated systems (electrification, signaling and communications).
