Convensa has been awarded the contract to carry out the construction project for the assembly base and ballast storage for track assembly on the Madrid-Extremadura-Portuguese Border high-speed line. Section: Talayuela-Plasencia.

The contract is worth over €31 million and will enable the construction of the base from which the track assembly work will be carried out on the Madrid-Extremadura-Portuguese Border High-Speed Line between Talayuela and Plasencia. It will be built in Navalmoral de la Mata and, with a surface area of 140,000 square metres, will be one of the largest in the network.

The facility will house areas for the storage of track components, a warehouse, offices and a maintenance workshop for rolling stock. It will also have tracks for the movement of vehicles inside, a connection to the conventional rail network and a road link to the EX118.

Once this section of the high-speed line is put into service, it will become a maintenance base.
