Convensa renews the maintenance contract for Lot 3 of the Madrid Metro
Metro de Madrid has awarded Convensa the comprehensive maintenance contract for the track superstructure and drainage corresponding to Lot 3 for the second time.
The contract is worth more than €14.4 million and has a four-year term. This contract renewal consolidates the trust placed in Convensa by Metro de Madrid, which had been performing these tasks on the same lot during the previous period.
Lot 3, with its operational base in Cuatro Vientos, covers 99 kilometres of railway infrastructure, including main tracks, depots, garages and connecting areas. Convensa will be responsible for carrying out normal and urgent corrective maintenance work and complementary actions, guaranteeing the safety, reliability and quality of service in one of the key areas of the network.
This contract is part of Metro de Madrid's overall strategy to maintain its railway network in optimal condition, which has more than 294 kilometres of main track and 773 track devices, and serves more than 2 million passengers daily.
The daily work mainly falls within the scope of Normal Corrective Maintenance (MCN), which includes scheduled activities to keep the track superstructure and drainage in optimal condition. These tasks are carried out during daytime and night-time hours on working days by a permanent operational team.
The main daily activities to be carried out are the inspection and repair of track equipment (replacement of damaged elements, adjustment and cleaning of crossings and switches, manual grinding and roller adjustment), inspection and maintenance of the rail (inspection of welds, connections and fastenings, replacement of seat plates and flanges), maintenance of ballasted track and slab track (levelling, compacting and cleaning ballast, replacing tamping blocks, plates and support elements), drainage control (cleaning gutters, collectors and manholes, repairing water drainage elements), verification of geometry and topography (geometric data collection, analysis of layouts and cross sections),actions in depots and garages (maintenance of internal tracks, inspection of equipment and drainage), andfire protection (talming, pruning and application of herbicide treatments).
Convensa's continued involvement in this lot reinforces the operational stability of Metro de Madrid and allows it to take advantage of the company's accumulated experience in managing this area, optimising resources and reducing response times to incidents.
