Convensa wins the contract for the rehabilitation of the superstructure of the Pinhao-Tua section of the Linha do Douro

A consortium formed by Contratas y Ventas SAU (Convensa) and Ramalho Rosa Cobetar (RRC), the FCC Co Portuguese branch, has been awarded with a contract for the rehabilitation of the Pinhão-Tua stretch within the Douro railway line in Portugal that the Portuguese railway administrator, Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), will carry out in the next months.

The works, 10 months of completion time, will be executed along the 12.5 km of railway line that joins both cities situated next to the Douro riverside and crosses the districts of Vilareal and Braganza in a hilly area placed in the Northeast of Portugal.  

The subject of the awarded contract is to upgrade the currently circulation line conditions in order to enhance the service levels and includes the substitution of wooden sleepers by concrete ones and the renewal of the old existing rail by new UIC 54 one. 

The scope of the works includes also the renewal of the ballast bed in some places along the track, the upgrade of the longitudinal drainage and the substitution of the stretch track expansion devices as well.

With this new contract Convensa makes a step forward within the railway Portuguese market, extending its presence in the country after concluding in the last weeks the track renewal works in Covilhã-Guarda stretch in the Beira Baixa line.
