Convensa wins the construction contract for Reus-Bellissens station, which will strengthen multimodality and railway integration in the municipality

Convensa has won the contract to construct the new Reus-Bellissens station; a strategic project for the development of the proximity railway network in the province of Tarragona, within the framework of the Transformem Rodalies plan. The project will improve the town's multimodality, connecting it with the Rodalies del Camp de Tarragona network and the regional services of Catalonia, thus meeting current and future passenger demands. The project also includes a new urban subway, which will connect the central axis of the Bellissens University Campus with the bus station.

The new Reus-Bellissens station, located in the southeast of the city, between the Reus and Vila-seca stations, is a modern terminal, integrated into a square with a markedly urban character, next to a recently built area where the Bellissens University Campus of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV), the Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital, the Tecnoparc and the Roseta Mauri secondary school, among others, are located.
The new station will be served by the RT1 (Tarragona-Reus) services of Rodalies del Camp de Tarragona and the R14 (Barcelona-Lleida) and R15 (Barcelona - Riba-roja d'Ebre) regional trains. According to demand studies carried out by Adif, it is estimated that the new station will have a daily traffic of 1,400 passengers, which could reach 3,500 passengers/day in 30 years' time.

The Reus-Bellissens station will be made up of differentiated architectural modules, responding to the operational requirements and the needs of passengers, protected under a canopy. It will have two side platforms 220 m long and 5 m wide, with waiting areas and accessible routes covered by 90 m of canopies. The subway connecting the platforms will be accessible, with lifts and fixed stairs.
The project also includes an accessible pedestrian approach and access area and an urban space that will promote social interaction, connecting with urban areas reserved for vehicle stops, taxis, buses and new models of sustainable mobility.

Next to the new station, a new urban crossing will be built - to be financed by Reus City Council in accordance with the agreement established with Adif - connecting the central axis of the Bellissens University Campus with Jaume Vidal i Alcover street and the bus station, which are now separated by the railway line. In this way, the centrality of the new railway station in the urban fabric and its permeability will be enhanced.

The urban development around the crossing will reinforce the integration into the city and the itineraries accessible from both sides of the city. In fact, the urban passage is integrated with the station and the city through a stepped and accessible square, which generates comfortable and safe spaces, aligned with the standards of gender urbanism.
